About the site:
Situated on the border between the United States and Canada, Fort Montgomery has long symbolized the shared history of the two nations and was the last of the important fortifications constructed along the Lake Champlain/Lake George transportation corridor. The great stone fort at Rouses Point was seen by military strategists as late as the Civil War as crucial to protecting the entry point to the nation.
