In celebration of the Historic House Trust’s 20th Anniversary and the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial celebration, the 2nd annual Historic House Festival will feature history-related events, exclusive tours, performances, lectures, workshops and more that explore the city’s rich heritage and roots as a Dutch settlement. From modest farmers’ cottages to grand mansions, the 22 sites in the Trust’s collection are located in parks across the five boroughs and chronicle New York City history, culture and architecture. The Historic House Festival will include annual favorites like Historic Richmond Town’s County Fair, an apple harvest at Lefferts Historic House, and an antique motorcycle show at the Queens County Farm Museum, as well as new special events including Colonial Dutch storytelling, archaeology lessons, vintage baseball games, a lecture on the Irish immigrant experience, and much more. The Festival will also provide a unique opportunity to tour sites that usually have limited access to visitors such as Gracie Mansion, Hendrick I. Lott House, the Little Red Lighthouse, and Seguine Mansion. For a complete calendar of events, visit www.historichousetrust.org.
